From a young age, I’ve always been known as the care taker. I had this natural instinct to be there for others, care for others, make others feel important-seen, heard, supported-no matter what it was. That length of empathy, compassion, and drive to be the one to show up for others consumed me. I found myself immersing into work that did just that-providing services for other people.
I worked in hospitality and healthcare and even did floral work. I cared for children and took care of elderly people in their homes. When I graduated high school, I moved out on my own, had my first apartment, a full time job, and was going to a community college full time at night for Medical Assisting. I had a goal to continue helping others in the medical field and dive deeper into working towards my RN so I could better serve people who needed it; or that’s what I thought at least.
Then I became a mother myself where I cared for my own children for many years at home. It felt like the tables were completely turned upside down. Yes I still wanted to help others with every ounce of my being, but I was yearning for a way I could help in ways that could also benefit myself as well and that’s when I came across the idea of joining the beauty industry.
I was a full time mother, wearing all the hats and then some, loving every second of motherhood, but was searching for a new identity or sense of self so to say. I craved finding work that of course was flexible for my family, paid well, and had room for growth. But also something that I genuinely enjoyed doing, something that would not only aide others, but help me on a more soulful level.
Battling with insecurities I had with my own skin and brows for that matter, let alone confidence as a feminine woman, I enrolled in an esthetics program just a couple years later. I was overjoyed with the thought of being able to partake in the maintenance of people’s skin health, especially mixing nature with science, learning more about how our nervous system has such a major role in it all, and how good it made people feel to have the time and attention not only focused on their skin and what they were hoping to achieve- but also on embracing relaxation, being in the present moment, trusting the process, and truly feeling confident in their own skin.
And to my realization, although it’s still very much a career I am growing in and mastering day by day, I learned that I was incredibly good at simple skin focused work and even better at offering a relaxing massage and an experience to go along with it.
Once I got my license, I assumed good, stable, consistent work would instantly be available to me, but it was far from immediate. I had my fair share of jobs that just didn’t fit in with what I needed at that moment or what I was quite looking for.
But then I came across Brows n’ Beauty Lounge, the perfect BBL, I knew that this was the space I was meant to stumble upon.
The instant gratification I felt not only from clients I was already getting but the atmosphere, the talented, kind-hearted women who with no hesitation took me in as one of their own, has truly warmed my soul.
To be surrounded by and privileged to be working along side empowering, professional, strong-willed women who also have the same passions as I do has already shaped me in ways I can only be grateful for.
To also have the opportunity to share the magic of simple skin focused services, making other women love and feel beautiful in their own skin, and genuinely having a career that brings so much fulfillment, self gratification, and growth- I am more than incredibly lucky and excited for all the new endeavors that lie ahead during this journey!
